God Stories
We had the privilege of joining God in providing a house for a family in need. Read about this story on the
Covenant website .
Hotdog Tuesdays
It began with a written dream of connecting with our community. But who would have dreamed that all it took was a donated barbeque, a simple lunch with an elderly gentleman in need and youth just hanging out, followed by an invitation to a hotdog barbeque the following Tuesday. And as they say, the rest is history. Since the fall of 2005, every Tuesday, rain or shine, we have rolled out that donated barbeque and setup tables and chairs in the courtyard outside the Shiloh Center.

People, once strangers walking past one another, have enjoyed the opportunity to stop, sit down and make friends with others of very diverse backgrounds. The mixture of languages, ages and cultures laughing and praying together around the offer of free hotdogs and chips is an amazing display of Gods Kingdom. People who are not interested in entering a church building are experiencing church in the way Jesus intended. From the man who brings flowers for our tables to the local businesses contributing homemade dishes to the Fijian community providing the entire feast once a month, people are catching the vision of Jesus by serving one another.
Although we have sizzled thousands of wieners, what we count most dearly are the numerous incarnational moments we have experienced.

Friends Helping Friends
This is a place that provides community, clothing, food, basic legal assistance, language learning, encouragement from the Bible and prayer. The evening begins with a potluck and includes ESL and SSL (Spanish as a Second Language). In an effort to break down racial divisions and foster understanding, we learn Spanish and English from one another in a manner that is both fun and practical. This group also sponsors special bilingual events aimed at meeting other felt needs in the community such as parenting.

Outreach To Teen Parents
In a partnership with The Windsor Boys and Girls Club, teenage parents meet every Tuesday night to receive support for themselves and their babies. Each week they gather for homework help, including the use of computers, a full meal, hip hop dance time and parenting classes that teach practical skills of raising children.
|
 |
All classes, meals and on-site childcare is free. Teen parents are encouraged and aided in their goal to attain a high school diploma or equivalent. Volunteers assist by lending a listening ear, serving during mealtime, providing childcare or tutoring during homework helping time.
